Team Breakdown: PIAA District 11 Girls

D11-A Girls - Team Breakdown

D11-A will see some changes this season as a few programs shift from 2A to 1A for the start of the new season. Notre Dame Green Pond, which placed fifth in 2A last season, looks to be one of the teams to beat in District 11-1A this season. Led by freshman standout Grace Medei, who was fifth in D11-AA and 33rd at states, NDGP is talented and looking for that lone states spot. Including Medei, the Crusaders return their top four from last year's team.

Also moving to 1A from 2A is Northern Lehigh, which is paced by Reagan Pender, who was third in D11-2A last year. With that low stick and five other varsity returners, expect NL to be in the mix for a Hershey bid.

Marian Catholic, which missed the district title by 8 points last year, should be strong this season. It loses Tina Capparell, who ran to the 1A state title a year ago, but back is Tina's sister Nicole Capparell along with five other varsity girls. A motivated Marian squad could compete for that top spot.

Last year's D11-A champs Mahanoy Area loses three of its top five from last year's team. It will have some rebuilding to do, but it has a good foundation with rising sophomore sophomore Madison Quick leading the way. Catasauqua, led by another rising sophomore Lexi Rushatz, could challenge for a high finish. Tri-Valley and Moravian Academy will also be looking to get in the hunt.
