Team Breakdown: PIAA District 6 Boys

D6-AA Boys - Team Breakdown

Central Cambria rolled to the District 6 Class AA title last season, scoring 47 points to earn the one state qualifying spot in D6-AA by 31 points. Five boys return from that team that seems poised to make another run towards Hershey.

Ohm Vyas and Nate Kuntz -- sixth and seventh at districts last year, respectively -- return to the fray to lead the Red Devils. Central Cambria ended up 13th at states last season.

Tyrone Area was second at districts last year. Top runner Zach Kohler (32nd at states last year) returns, and will look to lead this relatively young squad. Tyrone could certainly put the pieces together to contend for the top spot. The same goes for Juniata, which brings back six of seven varsity boys from a year ago. It has the lowstick in Garrett Baublitz, and the rest of the team shaped up nicely at the end of last year to take third at districts. Baublitz will be heavily favored to win his third straight D6-A individual crown.

One team returning its full varsity seven this season is Forest Hills. This team will be senior-heavy this fall, led by Mitchell Chunta, and could also make a run at the win if things fall into place.

Somerset Area made states out of District 5 Class AA last season, but this year, D5 has combined with D6 and Somerset will compete at the D6 Championships. Five boys are back from that team that took 18th at states, including Cejay Walker, who was second in D5 last year.
