Individuals Breakdown: District 10 Boys

D10-AA Boys - Individuals Breakdown

The most stacked AA district in the state of Pennsylvania is easily District 10. D10-AA is loaded with talent and a number of the boys who will square off at Buhl Park in late October will be many of the same ones competing for the top spot a week later at states.

We'll start with the pair of reigning district champions back this season. Nate Price of General McLane ran to the D10-AA crown last season, dropping a 15:55 at Buhl for the win. He took sixth at the state meet and returns for his senior season after taking sixth in the AAA 3,200 meters at outdoor track states. North East's Josh Lewis won the D10-A title last season, but he moves to AA with his team this year. He went 9:26 for 3,200 meters this spring on the track and seems poised to make a run at the district title and a high states finish this fall.

The top states finisher in this field, however, is Jonah Powell of Grove City Area. He placed sixth in D10-AA, but stepped up at Hershey taking third in the state. He ran 4:18 for third in AA in the 1,600 meters this spring, and is another one shooting for more big things in 2018. Then there's the Harbor Creek duo of Ryan Starvaggi and Aiden Weber. The pair took 2-3 at districts last year, and then 5-7 at states. Look for these two to work off each other throughout the season, and look for them to become of the state's top 1-2 combos.

McLane's Erik Andrzejewski (fifth at districts and 16th at states last year) is another one of the top returners that will be worth watching for this season. His teammate and rising sophomore Dylan Throop will look to build off a strong freshman season.

After Powell, Grove City has some solid returners in Joseph Somora, Tobias Jones, and Luke Owrey that will be in around the top ten in the district. Among the others to keep an eye on in this crazy-loaded field are Hickory's Cole Frazier, Fairview's Zach Buckner, Franklin Area's Jacob Eshelman, and Seneca's Brock Smith.

The team race figures to be very close for just two state team spots, so many of these boys will be racing for more than just individual glory this season. Keep an eye on D10 this season.
